Pedro - thank you for your comment yesterday. You were SO right. This morning I took a series of basically the same angle, changing the f from 11 to 22. I viewed them on full screen on my monitor (1680x1050) and liked this one best. Thank you so much!
Thanks for stopping by and looking at my photos. And for those who left a comment - a double thank you!

I would expect that f11 or f18 do not make too much difference to the DOF at the distances you were aiming at, considering the tiny sensor in the camera. A faster shutter speed would prevent any slight camera movement, improving the definition, so 1/125 or faster would help keep things crisp.
Also, digital cameras use software to process the images, which usually requires PP in Photoshop or other software afterwards. My Nikon D70 for instance produces results which look very soft straight from the camera, and always require sharpening, and having the Levels dealt with. This can make a huge difference to the appearance of sharpness. I usually just use the 'unsharp mask' as its quick and easy.

@Richard_Irwin: I'll give it a try. Photoshop for me is a very daunting program, so I'm moving very slowly with it. Seems like I read about how to do something, do the tutorial and think OK I can do this. But when it is my own pictures it doesn't seem to work! (I know, operator error). Thanks for the suggestions!
Martie,is very nice for me when some of you spend a little time watching my shots.Thank you very much.
