kairospix from Singapore, Singaporethanks for dropping by my pblog and leaving your comments 30 Nov 2007 5:37am @kairospix: thanks, kairospix. i don't know what these boats were for - since they are with the navy i just think of them as floating cities! kairospix from Singapore, Singaporehaha yes true they are like floatig cities! :) 30 Nov 2007 7:15am @Shuva Brata Deb: Yes they are! Thanks for visiting my site and commenting. tyan from Singapore, Singaporelovely sight, the lush green and ships go very well together!:) 30 Nov 2007 7:59am @tyan: the green in the tropics is like no other place! love it. @Emmanuelle: Thank you, Emmanuelle! Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomThey really are big boats. Love the photo position you chose. 30 Nov 2007 9:39am @Richard_Irwin: Thank you! Sometimes I find it difficult to figure out how to compose a photo (most times, actually). @Lorraine: Thank you Lorraine! @DaveB: Thanks! This was in Guam, where the sky is nearly always perfect blue. @Earnest: When the sky is that blue and the grass is that green - I didn't have to do much! Thank you for the comment. @KMF: Thank you, KMF! standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceThose boats are incredibly huge. Nice shot 30 Nov 2007 6:59pm @standley: They really are! Thank you for your comment. Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesI could be wrong --I haven't kept up with Navy stuff for a long time-- but I believe those are some type of amphibious assault ships (not "boats" in nautical jargon). The rear deck lands helicopters and the stern apparently swings down to allow landing craft to embark or disembark. 7 Dec 2007 4:19pm @Twelvebit: You are probably correct, Twelvebit, and thanks for the info. We weren't there when they docked, only passed by later. They were certainly BIG! |
